League Rules
Fee's currently at £50 per team.
League Rules (Updated and amended 11th Sept 2025)
1: Venues must provide a regulation Dart Board set at current regulation distances. Well Lit and suitable Scoring method. A Raised Oche must be used for all league and knockout matches
2: The format is - 3 Pairs (601 - best of 3) 6 Singles (501 - best of 3), 1 Trio (801 1 leg) 10 points available.
3: Teams must complete a player registration sheet and return it to secretary by the requested date (normaly on the sheet). A Five point penalty deducted if sheet is not returned by due date.) A good quality clear portrait photo is required.
4: Away team to throw first in 1st leg of Pairs's and then alternate for remainder of Legs
4b: Main board must be available as an open board for visiting team, no later than 8.10pm
5: No new players can be added after the displayed halfway point of league. No Exceptions. New players prior to the deadline date can be added after your team registration sheet has been submitted by putting players name and contact number on the reverse of the result sheet for that night and a photo uploaded to the league whatsapp.
6: If using a chalk or white board for scoring, Teams must supply a competant chalker and away team to supply a score caller if requested by either team.
When using an electronic scorer that only displays the current score, A caller is mandatory as scoring errors are more difficult to correct.
7: Result sheets need to be filled out Clearly at each match and signed by both captains. It is then the responsibility of both teams to take a clear overhead portrait photo of sheet and post on to league whatsapp (preferably straight after match but no later than 2pm on Tuesday. There is a 2 point deduction for late or incorrectly taken photos of sheets. Photos MUST be taken from overhead and must include the complete sheet. Photo's taken at weird angles or with parts not showing etc will be rejected. Once the website has been updated by JD, The original score sheet can be destroyed. If anyone spots an irregularity on a posted sheet, Notify secretary within 24 hours by private message, as after 7 days, result sheets on App are deleted
8: League Fee's are set at £50 currently and must be paid in full at AGM or EGM
9: Knockouts: a player unable to attend finals night after qualifying for a final cannot be substituted
10: We have a whatsapp group for submitting photos (only) - Witham League Photo's - every team should register at least one player on here so that a match result photo's can be posted straight after a match. We do ask every team to have at least one whatsapp registered player. Any player either side may upload a result, it doesnt have to be the captain.
Important Note: This whatsapp group Witham League Photo's is for submitting a match results only, and not to be used for general chatter or comments. Any additional comments, problems or complaints should be sent to the Secretary via either email (justdartsuk@gmail.com) or PRIVATE message with whatsapp, do not post suggestions etc on league Photo app, it just confuses everyone and general comments are deleted by admin. Dont be offended if message is deleted, all we want to see are result photos and committee notices . As of Summer 2025, a Committee whats app will be created.
NOTE: Any posts to the result app that isnt a result photo will be deleted by either Toddy or me, and repeated offenders will be removed from the App permanently .
11: Postponements are not allowed. Cancellations are not allowed and plenty of notice should be given where possible if cancelling game to save wasted food (24 hours).
11b: A match must be played and cannot be cancelled if teams have 4 or more players. You can win with just 4 players. The format with 4 players is - you can play 1 Trio (you cannot play 1 against 3) You can play 3 Pairs including 1 against 2 with single player missing every other throw only and 4 Singles.
11c: Games must be played in the following order - Pairs's Singles and Trios.
12: If a game is cancelled, a 7 Point win to other team, and a minus 3 point deduction against team cancelling will be issued. If a team Cancels 3 matches in one season, they will be removed from the remaining fixtures and depending when this happens, all points won from them by other teams will be set to zero
13: No player can play twice in any one section (trio pair or single). Players must be present to be entered into any of the Draws. If a team only has 5 players, they may enter 1 x trio and 2 players in the other trio's and will miss one throw every 3 throws. They can enter 2 pairs in the pairs plus a single player against the other pair, missing out every other throw. They can only enter 5 singles but will not be able to select which game to miss out as this must still be a random draw. The other team should lay down there 6 cards and the one without an opponent will receive the win point.
Players must be present to be entered into any of the Draws. Games cannot be delayed to compensate for late arrival.
13b: Players cannot play for more than one team in a season. Once a dart has been thrown, each player is locked in to original team and cannot move to a new team under any circumstances and any player leaving a team mid season or being removed from team by Captain, will not be eligible to compete in the end season knockouts.
13c: When completing the player registration sheet, all team members must complete full name and SIGN the sheet. Someone else cannot sign for them. if a players name is entered by a third party and a valid signature isnt used, that player will be deemed to not be registered with the League and points won by them may be removed. No new players permitted after the halfway point (see additional details below) Player registration sheets will be viewable on web site but players contact details will be blanked out to comply with current laws
14: 1st Pair to start no later than 8.30 (unless pre arranged)
15: Any complaints must be sent via email, Txt or private message to the secretary (not posted on the League results whatsapp) and they will be dealt with by the committee. Do not use whatsapp for any other type of general comment, harrassment or abuse, Its for result photo's only and any committee related league notices. We have ladies that also use the app and they dont want to read offensive messages, and neither does anyone else. Offender will be removed from the app permanently and further action may be taken
16: league Fees are non Refunded should a team be asked to leave the league through misconduct or a team wishes to leave the league.
17: Games cannot be cancelled while you still have 4 available players. 4 players would give 1 Trio, 2 + 1 Pairs and 4 Singles. You can win a match with 4.
18: Good order should be kept with no undue noise or unpleasant cooments, distractions while players are on the oche.
19: In the event of any dispute, The Committee's decision is final.
19b: Result sheets: All games must be done via a blind draw. This should be done no later than 8.30
20: Any requests for a rule change or other suggestions should be made in writing to the Secretary for possible inclusion at next AGM meeting and these requests must be received no later than 2 weeks before the AGM meeting. Any suggested changes to general format will only be considered if they retain the general league format and major changes would also require a unanimous vote result
20a: The Secretary is responsible. for organizing and handling league paperwork. and as such will determine the way paperwork will be prepared and requested from teams. The web site is owned and paid for by John Dudley. The cost of running the web site hosting is funded by the Witham League. All content is at his discretion.
20b: Teams that compete in both Summer and Winter seasons will be given priority over teams that only compete in one season a year.
20c: The League membership area can included - Witham, Kelvedon, Heybridge, Hatfield Peveral, Boreham
21: A minimum of 12 teams are required. The aim is for 8 teams per division in order to split into 2 divisions. Less than 12 teams will require a single division format
22: There will be two meetings per season. The pre summer EGM and the Pre Winter AGM. Major changes requiring League votes are done at the AGM.. Proposals for minor changes and questions for future consideration etc can be discussed at the EGM but generally not open to vote unless important. Committee members will stand down at the end of the Summer season but may re-stand if proposed by the league or new proposals may be put forward.
